New research in the area of improvement of broadband services has shown that network optimisation is the only solution to the problem of network overcrowding.

The total number of mobile broadband users is increasing each day. An approximate estimate of the total number of such users was put at 186 million in 2008, which is projected to grow to 600 million by the end of this year. This growth in users is bound to create problems of network traffic. During peak hours of usage, slowing of speed is a common problem faced by users, and service providers are trying to find solutions to manage heavy traffic.

Telecom analyst Informa Telecoms and Media conducted a series of tests between June and August this year to find out how well service providers are handling rush hour traffic in the virtual world. They took into consideration the file size and download speeds for a range of popular mobile broadband service providers like Amazon and Facebook.

The results conclusively proved that service providers like O2, Vodafone, T-Mobile and British Telecom that use network optimisation software are able to tackle the problem of overloading and bottlenecks in mobile connectivity. The results of the test thus show that usage of network optimisation software is an integral factor in improving mobile broadband services and tackling network congestion.
